Shhh…we’ll let you in on a little secret: March and April. That’s right, while all the lowlanders at sea level are thinking about those first flowers of spring; us mountain folks are usually getting bombarded with big powder days, sun-filled afternoons on the snow, goggle tans from on-mountain picnics, glorious après-ski and BBQs and great events & festivals in the mix.
Epic skiing: Sure it’s technically not the middle of winter anymore but March and April typically still bring snow storms to Méribel, and in between the great weather and sun-filled days springtime often offers plenty of powder days as well. Combine great conditions with the variety of Méribel’s terrain that remains open through April, and it makes for a fantastic time on the mountain.
Longer days: By March and April Méribel starts getting way more daylight and the chairlifts stay open for an extra half hour or more. That translates into at least one more lap of ripping up the slopes or an extended Après session. Win-Win.
Spring is the time for après: Après ski is great any time of the season, but if après had an official time of year it would definitely be spring! Enjoy the extended hours of daylight provided by Mother Nature this time of year, and sit outside and soak up the sun at one of Méribel’s many great après spots.
Events: Whether your style leans more toward sipping champagne on the top of the mountain or mixing your ski holidays with live music or adrenaline pumping activities, there’s an event you’ll love to attend at Méribel this spring. Besides, we pretty much always get at least one big bluebird pow day each event/festival and if the sun sticks around there is truly no better spring skiing/riding experience.
Accomodation deals: While many people don’t even think about planning a ski trip to Méribel in March and April, these months can not only hold some of the best snow of the season but are also two of the most affordable months to visit.
Well, the secret’s out…bring your good mood and your pow skis/boards, and let’s finish winter off proper…
